Common Questions

The things every plant asks us first

No. We read data over the machine's existing Ethernet port using the manufacturer's own protocol — FOCAS for FANUC, OPC-UA for Siemens and Mitsubishi. It is read-only. We never write to the controller, never touch your part programs, and the CNC does not know we are there. Machining performance is completely unaffected.
Not for collection. The edge device sits on your local network and buffers everything to local storage first. If your internet drops, data collection continues normally and nothing is lost — when the connection returns, everything syncs to the cloud automatically. Internet is only needed to view the dashboard remotely.
VMC, HMC, turning centres, SPMs, grinding machines, wire EDM, robot cells and multi-axis machines. On the controller side we support FANUC, Siemens and Mitsubishi as standard, and we regularly add support for other controllers on request. If you have something unusual, send us the model — we will tell you honestly whether we can read it.
The edge device connects to your network in under an hour. Each machine is then added by entering its IP address and selecting the controller type — usually a few minutes per machine. A typical 10-machine shop is fully live within a single day, without stopping production.
Your data is isolated per company — no other customer can see it. All traffic between the edge device and the cloud is encrypted, and access is controlled by user login with role-based permissions. If your policy requires it, we also offer full on-premise deployment where nothing leaves your building.
Lumo AI reads your live and historical machine data and answers questions in plain language — "which machine ran most today?", "what needs attention?", "give me the shift summary". It also flags failure risk by spotting alarm and cycle-time patterns before they turn into breakdowns, and writes your production and downtime reports automatically at the end of every shift.
Tell us the problem. We build custom industrial IoT solutions — auto tool offset correction, in-process gauging integration, conveyor and press monitoring, ERP connections. If it produces a signal, we can usually monitor it and put it on your dashboard. Solving specific floor problems is a large part of what we do.
